The second single from Boniface came out in February, Phantom Limbs, and to follow it up, Micah Visser (aka Boniface's frontman and songwriter) has put together a one-take b-side - For Love (Demo). Take a listen to it in our new music playlists.
With just his vocals and piano, it's bare and intimate, another side to his songwriting to be filed alongside Again & Again.
"I had no idea how biographical this song was when writing - at the time I thought I was feeling really positive about things, but sat down at a piano and wrote this song that kind of broke my heart. I wrote it about a year ago in London and forgot about it until we started thinking about a B side. One night I was listening to old voice memos and this one kind of freaked me out - the intimacy and honesty in it even though I couldn’t have admitted it when writing."

Phantom Limbs itself got a music video recently, directed by Micah's bandmate and brother Joey Visser. It's set in their hometown of St Boniface, Winnipeg, and takes a touching journey across the band's own turf, featuring many of their regular haunts.
"I wrote Phantom Limbs a few years ago when I was starting to become really unhappy with the way I was treating myself and the way my friends were treating themselves. I wrote it out of frustration without much redemption, and in the years since I’ve really tried to stop doing that. I think it's stuck with the band and I because it’s just really fun to play and we like that contrast.
Having my brother Joey (direct the) video was a no brainer. Boniface is such an intimate project for me and I’m really glad we could keep this video as honest as possible. I think that comes across when you watch it and I’m really happy with the way it turned out."

"We shot this during a very cold week in February. I feel like this added to the authenticity and urgency in the video. It felt a lot more like filming something that was actually happening rather than a music video we set up."
