MICHELLE share new version of The Bottom reworked by Let’s Eat Grandma’s Rosa

Our newest signing MICHELLE have today unveiled a dreamy rework of their single The Bottom by Let’s Eat Grandma’s Rosa Walton. Listen here. The release comes alongside the news that their debut album HEATWAVE is now available for preorder on limited edition orange vinyl, as an indie store exclusive. You can preorder the record here. It will be available on August 7th in the UK.

Julian Kaufman (production and arrangement) had to say on the remix – "We love the interpretation of the song. Who would have thought it could feel so inspiring and uplifting!? We’re so glad to bring another voice into the MICHELLE sound."

Discussing her rework of the song, Rosa offered the following: "I love the track and really enjoyed reworking it. The meaning of their song, especially the chorus line, really resonated with how I am feeling in the current situation, so I wanted to write some lyrics based around that. This time for me, as for many people, has been a time of forced introspection and questioning what I want from life, and to do that you have to ‘see the bottom’! Which can be so scary... but also relieving and empowering."

MICHELLE are a formidable collective riding at the forefront of New York City R&B. The Bottom, a sweat-drenched celebration of their city, introduced them last month via a live performance video of the track in Atlantic Records Studio in New York in February, which you can watch here. Arlo Parks also covered the track, which you can listen to here.

Emma Lee (vocalist and lyricist) says of the track - "the song is an ode to the East river. Whispering worries to my mom by the river, mustering up the courage to dive in without fear - diving into what scares me, or into this loyal body of water."

The band have also recently recorded a special quarantine version of Mango, raising money for the No Kid Hungry charity - give it a watch here.
