Foals have previewed another slice of their upcoming album Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2. Following the first two explosive tracks in the shape of The Runner and Black Bull – both of which were picked as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record - they are back with a third single, Into The Surf. Listen here.
On the back of last week’s dynamic performance at the Mercury Prize, with a special helping hand from The Maccabee's Felix White, Into The Surf showcases a different side to Foals. It’s a dreamy, ethereal soundscape which allows Yannis Philippakis’ haunting but elegant lyrics to soar.
"In Into the Surf there’s this shadow of death, of someone not returning from a voyage", he explained in an interview with DIY. "There’s a type of Greek folk song that’s always to do with the immigration of Greek people and how dying on foreign shores is always viewed as the worst fate – to die far away from your home and your family."
Available to pre-order here, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2 follows the album’s first chapter, which debuted at #2 on the Official Album Charts and earned a Mercury Prize nomination.
