Foals' breathtaking new album, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1, is out today! Get your copy of the record here.
After more than a decade in the game, Foals again embrace that love for the unconventional with the bravest and most ambitious project of their career: not one, but two astonishing new albums, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost. A pair of releases, separate but related, they share a title, themes and artwork. Part 2 will follow this autumn. ''They’re two halves of the same locket'', frontman Yannis Philippakis explains. ''They can be listened to and appreciated individually, but fundamentally, they are companion pieces.''
''Lyrically, there are resonances with what's going on in the world at the moment'', summarises Yannis. ''I just feel like, what’s the utility of being a musician these days, if you can’t engage with at least some of this stuff? These songs are white flags, or they’re SOSs, or they’re cries for help… each in a different way.''
The album was recorded at 123 Studios in Peckham, and was produced by Yannis with the assistance of engineer Brett Shaw.
Having just completed a short tour of intimate club venues, Foals will follow the album’s release with a major summer headline tour, several dates of which are already. See UK dates below and get remaining tickets for the world tour here.
JUNE
In addition to their own shows, Foals’ domestic festival schedule adds headline sets at This Is Tomorrow, Truck, Y Not, and Boardmasters.
Last night BBC Radio 1 released a very special live set that Foals played at Kew Gardens - you can watch it back and read an interview with Annie Mac and Yannis here.
You can also get an extremely limited copy of Q Magazine, who are offering readers and Foals fans a must-have Foals-designed cover issue with an exclusive flexi disc. It’s limited to just 2000 copies and won’t be available in the shops. Of the the exclusive track, I’m Done With The World (Demo), Yannis said ''We’ve only ever played this song twice. Jimmy sent me the piano part and I went and sang it once in one go into some headphones and that’s the demo that’s on the flexi disc. Then we put it on the back-burner it wasn’t a definite thing we were working on for the record. But then we got to the latter stages of the album and I started to feel like it was going to be important for the record. So I went in and sang it one more time and that was it. So there’s only ever been two performances of that song. One is the demo and one is the album version.''
