Blaenavon’s long awaited second album Everything That Makes You Happy is out now

Today, Blaenavon find themselves at the end of a journey they never thought they’d have to take. The band formed at the tender age of 14 and were immediately thrust into the spotlight; from the wild success of their debut album and countless sold out shows worldwide, Blaenavon were forced to grow up quickly. Understandably this took its toll on the band, and specifically singer Ben Gregory who has struggled with his mental health these last few years. This album and its release represents the end of a dark passage and the beginning of something more hopeful. Now, Everything That Makes You Happy is available to purchase on limited edition vinyl, CDs and cassettes, or stream here.

Everything That Makes You Happy was recorded in Manchester at Eve Studios and produced by Catherine Marks (Foals, St Vincent, Wolf Alice). It is an incredible collection of uplifting songs, born from the darkest time. Ben spoke directly to fans on Monday via a letter copied below:

"Everything That Makes You Happy. I couldn’t be prouder for you all to hear this album: an optimistic response to a difficult time. It made sense with the record’s impending release to touch base with you again and explain what’s been happening in our world.

I’ve been very open regarding my mental health, and earlier this year things once more took a turn for the worst. In an industry so challenging, I pushed myself too hard and relapsed, returning to the hospital for a short time. I know many of you have really been struggling with your mental health, but I can promise you that time heals all and everything WILL be alright.

The good news is the music hasn’t stopped flowing and we won’t make you wait another two and a half years to hear more. The support from you all throughout everything has been so warm and I’m honoured to have you guys as fans and friends.

I want to make this band one you cherish forever, I want to thank my family for being such incredible rocks through all this trauma and I want to thank you for believing in this band as much as I do.

Breathe this album in deeply - it really is one of a kind and from a very special place.

All my love, Ben x"

Yesterday, Ben was announced as the new ambassador for the charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). He spoke about working together with charity in full interview which can be viewed here

Ben also discussed the making of the album and his own battle with mental health in our new documentary, released this week. Filmed with the BBC, How To Survive The Music Industry: The Transgressive Story follows our journey as a label over the last 15 years to now, and features a discussion around this record and mental health in the music industry with Ben. Be sure to check the documentary out here.
